With 17 million motorcycles sold in 2022, Honda is one of the world's largest motorcycle manufacturers. Now the company intends to invest heavily in electric motorcycles. Over the next three years, Honda will launch ten new electric models.
There are heavy motorcycles for those who want a luxury model, but also simpler scooters for those who just want a practical and cheap means of transport. Seven of the models are of the scooter type, so Honda invests mostly in those who see the motorcycle as a daily means of transport.
In order for there to be enough charging points for all the new electric motorcycles that Honda hopes to sell, the company has started a series of collaborations with local partners all around the world. It is then also about having places where it is possible to quickly change to a new fully charged battery instead of having to charge the old battery.
Honda today accounts for 34 percent of all motorcycles sold in the world, so when they switch to selling more electric motorcycles, it can have a big impact on overall sales. The company also aims for their entire motorcycle production to be carbon dioxide neutral around 2040.
