🎸 Coldplay to use energy from dancing fans to power the concert

Coldplay recently announced their 2022 world tour. Unlike their tours in the past, this is going to be an “eco-friendly” tour. The music band has a 12-step plan to make their performances more sustainable. The plan includes harnessing energy from dancing fans and planting a tree for every ticket sold.

Very much like the nightclub in Glasgow which uses human energy to reduce emissions, Coldplay will utilize energy from dancing fans to power the concert using kinetic flooring. In an interview with BBC, singer Chris Martin said:

"When they move, they power the concert," he said.

"The more people move, the more they're helping. You know when the frontman says, 'We need you to jump up and down'?

"When I say that, I literally really need you to jump up and down. Because if you don't, then the lights go out."

Furthermore, the band will install solar tiles on venues, use electric vehicles to get around whenever possible, and plant a tree for every ticket they sell. During their last world tour back in 2016-17, they played for 5.4 million people.

Coldplay has been consulting with environmental experts on how to lower their environmental footprint for about two years, coming up with their 12-step plan. Chiara Badiali from Julie’s Bicycle, a charity that advises the music industry on sustainability said:

"So a band going out and taking those risks and trying those things out, and being very open and sharing those things, is going to help the whole industry in the long run."

Hopefully, Coldplay’s decision to do everything they can to reduce their environmental footprint will inspire many people and make the future come sooner.
