♊ Victoria in Australia is getting a digital twin

Victoria state government, in Australia, has invested US$ 34 million to create a digital twin of the state. The twin will be a 3D model with a fourth dimension that is time.

The purpose of the twin is to enable more intelligent city planning, implementing AI assessment in, for example, housing approvals, and boost the start-up scene. The platform will also be used to monitor real-time data on, for example, energy production. When it is in place, it will be the go-to tool for decision-making concerning the region's developments.

The digital project is created using TerraJS, which is an open-source framework, and is put together with spatial data as well as sensor data. According to itnews the platform will be accessible in late 2021.

"Once this platform is established, real-time data can be collected at an astonishing rate and absorbed into the Digital Twin to support informed planning decisions and share important information with communities," says Victoria's Minister for Planning Richard Wynne in an article on Zdnet.
