Tesla will soon begin delivering the Model 3 with cobalt-free batteries from their factory in China. This is reported by the news agency Reuters , which received the information from two anonymous tipsters.
Model 3 is currently supplied with nickel-manganese-cobalt or NMC batteries from the Shanghai plant. But now there are reports that some Model 3 will instead be delivered with batteries based on iron phosphate or LFP, and which do not contain the conflict mineral cobalt.
Tesla has not yet commented on the information, but according to Reuters’ sources, cars with LFP batteries can start delivering as early as this week.
