The tiger is an endangered species, but development is going in the right direction right now. According to the World Wide Fund for Nature, the number of tigers in India, China, Nepal, Bhutan and Russia is increasing.
It is the result of the protection measures that the countries have taken since they promised to increase the tiger population by 50 percent from 2010 to 2025. It has been best for India and Nepal, where the number of tigers has doubled in the last decade.
The biggest threat to the tiger now is hunting with snares that the tigers can get caught in and deforestation that reduces the tigers’ habitat. But WWF and the countries where there are tigers continue to work to increase the number of tigers and the trend is positive enough.
