Late last year, Elon Musk stated that he doesn't see any reason why it wouldn't be possible to put humans on Mars before the end of this decade.
When asked in a CNBC interview aired on May 7, SpaceX President and COO, Gwynne Shotwell shared confidence that we'll put people on Mars this decade.
"We should put people on the surface of mars within a decade… in this decade. Yes. People on the moon, sooner. /…/ I think we'll need to get a large delivery to the surface of mars, and then people will start thinking harder about it", she says.
The company's next step to make this a reality is, of course, the first orbital flight of the Starship spacecraft. The massive spacecraft, designed to take humans to Mars and the moon, is currently awaiting an environmental review from the FAA. We will of course keep you posted as this develops.
