πŸ‘ŸπŸŽˆ Walking on balloons - new shoe makes it possible

The fashion industry is not the most environmentally friendly practice. But more and more established brands, as well as new start-ups, are trying to make the industry better. One of those companies is Undo for Tomorrow.

Undo for Tomorrow is a shoe brand based in Lisbon and the company is striving to make eco-friendly and ethical products.

Not long ago, the company launched the vegan β€œNueven” sneakers. The whole shoe is comprised of sustainably sourced materials together with natural materials – for example bamboo for the lining and recycled plastic bottles for the suede outer shell. But the most unique feature is the sneakers multi colored sole made from discarded party balloons and leftovers from rubber tires. The shoe can be bought with worldwide shipping starting August 2021.

Undo for Tomorrow is concerned about more than just sustainability. The start-up ensures to prioritize both social and human rights by partnering with a family owned factory in SΓ£o Paulo in Brazil. The factory source materials mainly from the domestic Brazilian market, guarantee good working conditions and pay their workers good living wages.

These sneakers are just one of many foot brands that reject the use of leather from animals, plastic and petroleum. Scientists even made a vest and shoes from kombucha tea leftovers and Adidas is making leather out of mycel, which is the vegetative part of the mushroom (not the part we eat or pick in the forest).

The future holds so many amazing solutions. This is a great time to be alive.
