The Kentucky Fried Chicken food chain, KFC, will start selling an alternative to fried chicken that does not contain any chicken. Instead of chicken, the food contains a vegan alternative.
The vegan version comes from Beyond Meat, which is otherwise best known for its vegan burgers. Beyond Fried Chicken, as the product is called, will only be sold in KFC's American locations and only for a limited time, but if sales go well, it can certainly become a permanent addition to their menu.
There are some divided opinions about how Beyond Fried Chicken tastes. The reviews vary from "tastes just like real chicken" to "dry and boring." So Beyond Fried Chicken may not be for everyone, but it's an option for many who do not want to eat meat even when they want something that tastes like chicken.
That there are many, who are interested shows a test that KFC did a couple of years ago. Then KFC sold a small batch of Beyond Meats vegan chicken products in a store in Atlanta, USA. It only took five hours for the store to sell out of everything that Beyond Meat could deliver at that time.
Now Beyond Meat can deliver larger quantities, and at least for a limited time, everyone in the US should be able to test what they think of a vegan alternative to chicken.
