🌳 Installation shows the power of trees CO2-work

Everybody knows we need trees because they breathe in CO2 emissions and breath out oxygen. However, since we can’t see how much the trees help us, it can sometimes be hard to comprehend how important they are and to truly appreciate them.

In order to really show people, the design office Carol Ratti Associati (CRA) together with the energy company Eni has created Natural Capital and placed it in the historical botanical garden Orto Botanico di Brera in Milan, Italy. This installation shows guests, in a beautiful and affecting way, exactly how much CO2 the plants and trees in the garden capture and store.

Optimist Daily writes “Each of the tree species featured in the garden is coupled with a floating sphere displaying how much CO2 the trees absorb. The installation expands over upwards of 500 square meters of garden, making it appear as though the air is full of gigantic bubbles.”

The goal of the project is to help people really understand how much we owe to all kinds of plants, including trees and forests, for providing us with clean oxygen. The team hopes the display truly makes people see the importance of protecting the trees we have left and how important it is for us to save, conserve, and cultivate them.
