🌲 The EU wants to plant three billion trees and halve the use of pesticides by 2030

The European Commission wants to invest € 20 billion by 2030 on increasing biodiversity in the Member States .

Among other things, the Commission wants to plant three billion trees and halve the use of pesticides. In addition, various measures will stop the reduction of pollinating insects and restore 25,000 kilometers of Europe’s rivers to flow freely.

The Commission also wants to protect 30% of all land and sea within the Union so that biodiversity is not depleted there.

In addition to saving nature, the Commission expects this investment to pay off financially. Protecting coasts and wetlands alone could reduce the cost of flooding by EUR 50 billion, according to EU estimates.
