🔋 Here is the World’s first 3D-printed solid-state battery

Previously known as Keracel Inc, Sakuu Corporation recently announced plans to produce 3D-printed solid-state batteries after successfully developing the product’s internal design.

Apart from the design being an entirely in-house project, those 3D printed batteries will also bring about efficient energy storage in several sectors, including in electric vehicles, aerospace, medical devices, and also in a variety of consumer electronics.

“We believe this to be a landmark achievement and one that could transform consumer adoption of electric vehicles.” Said Sakuu’s founder and CEO Robert Bagheri.

The pilot line of the 3D batteries, which is said to be lighter and much easier to produce, will be manufactured by Sakuu alongside two other manufacturing firms called Relevant Industrial and Honeywell Process Solutions.

Sakuu's 3D batteries breakthrough design is capable of saving up to 50% of material costs while sustaining better performance than conventional solutions. As the world's first 3D printed solid-state batteries, Sakuu's product brings about an optimal yet advanced method with a manufacturing technique that can easily be applied to other complex functional parts of solid-state system production.

The batteries designed by the California-based company are agile and compatible enough with existing systems as any shape can be printed or used to replicate existing technology with ease.

Going forward, Sakuu plans to start issuing its batteries to strategic consumers and early access partners who can further test and develop the product's design. Other industry players who are also working to produce solid-state batteries include a start-up called QantumScape that has a joint venture with Volkswagen Group.
